Objectives
Nurses in Houston area school districts all have the common problem of being consistently exposed to various pathogens. They are always seeking solutions to reduce the spread of illness, particularly to staff and other students.
Solutions
Depending on the school district’s needs and budget, they used illumiPure devices to reduce th spread of illness including illumiPure CleanWhite® LED lighting fixutres, Air Guardian air purification system, and CleanWhite® Plus dual-disinfection units.
This case study covers 3 schools districts and appoximately two dozen nurses’ stations.
Improved Outcomes
Near Zero Sick Day Usage
80% of interviewed nurses claimed since the installation of the illumiPure Healthy Buildings Suite they have not used any time off for illness.
Air Quality
Monitored nurses stations have all reported improved air quality. These are subjective and a pre/post assessment was not conducted.
Quality of Life
Nurses reported an increase of days off being used for non- illness purposes, such as vacations or childcare, and stated that is a significant improvement over using all vacation time for illness.
