The Wavelength That Changes Everything
The choice to build CleanWhite® on a 405nm wavelength rather than the industry-standard 450nm isn’t a feature, it’s the foundational engineering decision from which every other advantage follows. Safer light. Healthier occupants. And capabilities that no other commercial fixture can claim.
No harmful blue light
Conventional LEDs use a 450nm blue pump to create white light illumination. This is the high-energy visible (HEV) range associated with retinal stress, macular risk with prolonged exposure, and eye strain. As screen time increases daily blue light exposure for most people, the light in your facility shouldn't add to it. CleanWhite® operates at 405nm without creating spikes in the HEV range, developed to work differently from the start.
Circadian-safe by design
The 450nm wavelength in conventional LEDs is among the most effective suppressors of melatonin production in the human body. Eight to twelve hours under standard office or healthcare lighting is measurably disrupting the occupants' sleep, cognitive performance, and recovery. CleanWhite® operates below the circadian disruption threshold. The fixture itself stops fighting people's biology.
Continuously antimicrobial
At 405nm, CleanWhite® light excites coproporphyrin III-a molecule that pathogenic bacteria naturally accumulate. The resulting reactive oxygen species destroy the pathogen from within. No chemicals. No UV risk. No occupied-space restrictions. The light is already on. It is already working. This is not a feature we added — it is a consequence of building light properly.

Pathogens accumulate coproporphyrin III
MRSA, C. diff, E. coli, and other pathogenic bacteria naturally concentrate this light-sensitive organic molecule. Beneficial bacteria do not — they lack comparable porphyrin concentrations.

CleanWhite® fixtures provide standard white light illumination. Drop-in retrofit. Identical form factor to conventional fixtures.

405nm excites the porphyrin
CleanWhite’s spectrum targets this exact absorption peak. The porphyrin molecule is excited and generates reactive oxygen species internally.

Pathogen is destroyed from within
ROS disrupts the pathogen’s membranes, proteins, and DNA. The pathogen’s own biology is its vulnerability. No foreign substance introduced. No harm to the humans in the room.

IEC 62471 is the international standard for photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems. Risk Group 0 — Exempt — means the product poses no photobiological hazard under any normal use condition. It is the top tier of the classification system. CleanWhite® is the only commercially available antimicrobial lighting technology to hold this certification.
